Point of Care Literature (Available for Download)

Cascade® POC System

The Cascade POC analyzer and unique reagent system are useful in monitoring routine anticoagulants as well as antithrombotic drugs used to treat angina, myocardial information, stroke, deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary and arterial emboli. A built-in battery pack and QC lockout features make it ideal for use in the catheterization laboratory, cardiac surgery, the emergency room as well as warfarin clinics and physician's offices. New Actalyke® Controls

Helena offers both electronic and biologic quality controls for the Actalyke ACT system for complete assurance of patient results. AQC-HP is a biologic control designed for C-ACT, K-ACT and MAX-ACT users, providing a low-range and high-range reference. AQC-LP is for G-ACT users and provides both low-range and mid-range controls. Both AQC-HP and AQC-LP include the necessary diluents for reconstitution. This brochure is available by contacting Helena's Literature Services at 800-231-5663.

Actalyke® MINI II - ACT Analyzer

The MINI II is the simplest, least expensive instrument available, for activated clotting time testing, yet it retains high sensitivity, 2-point clot detection for greatest reliability. Performance, linearity and CVs parallel larger Actalyke analyzers. It's ideal for use in the catherization or the surgical suite. Optional battery pack available. This brochure is available by contacting Helena's Literature Services at 800-231-5663

Plateletworks® Aggregation Kits

Plateletworks Point of Care Kits provide a complete hematology profile, including a standard CBC with platelet count plus platelet aggregation. Aggregation testing is based on performing a platelet count before and after intentional platelet activation, using either collagen, ADP or arachidonic acid as the agonist. This brochure is available by contacting Helena's Literature Services at 800-231-5663

Actalyke® XL - ACT Analyzer

Accurate Activated Clotting Time (ACT) testing is essential for monitoring heparin therapy during cardiac procedures. Actalyke instruments and reagent tubes provide the sensitivity, reliability and rapidity needed for timely treatment decisions at the point of care.
All Actalyke instruments use a two-point clot detection mechanism, enabling clot detection at the early fibrin formation stage with less variation due to clot fragility. This provides greater precision, especially on highly heparinized and diluted samples. The Actalyke XL is a premier analyzer offering dual-well testing, excellent reproducibility and strong data handling features. The XL is fully compatible with all ACT tubes. Helena offers a full line of ACT tubes, including traditional glass bead, kaolin, celite® plus new MAX-ACT. This brochure is available by contacting Helena's Literature Services at 800-231-5663

The MAX-ACT Discovery

This booklet examines the multi-species nature of Factor XII and the resulting reaction to the various ACT activators. MAX-ACT tubes contain a mixture of Celite, Kaolin and glass beads for maximum activation of Factor XII resulting in greater heparin specificity. This booklet is available by contacting Helena's Literature Services at 800-231-5663.
